Market trends indicate that the demand from Chinese consumers for high-quality, safe and aspirational products from market-leading countries such as Australia is growing. Some of the top-selling online products in Australia marketed on top Chinese shopping sites include wines, honey, cosmetics, organic heath foods, maternity products, baby formula, footwear and apparel. Other popular Australian products in China are health supplements. Given the emphasis on traditional medicine in China, vitamins and natural supplements are an appealing way to support health.

The single purchase limit increased from ¥ 2,000 (AUD 400) to ¥ 5,000 (AUD 1000), while the yearly purchase limit amount increased from ¥ 20,000 (AUD 4,100) to ¥ 26,000 (AUD 5,350) per year. Cross-border purchases are exempted from duties and receive a 30% discount on consumption tax and VAT.
